Looking at bright and beautiful colors can vibrate our eyes and stimulate our minds almost immediately. We can feel a change of mood and an uplifting of spirit. Color is the most important element in interior design next to the quality of light. Never underestimate the power of color. Study pictures that make you happy and pull out a color wheel and learn your different color combination names.
You don’t have to start from scratch when it comes to the color combinations. One of my favorites in color combos that add interest is the black and white grounding of material choices and then pop’s of bright colors in the pillows makes you feel happy when looking at that palette. When using bright primary colors it is important to ground the design with natural woods or neutral colors in a room with neutrals This way you can afford the option to change to other color choices without spending too much time and money. Green and pink are one of my favorite color combos!!
This is a popular and timeless color combination of warm and cool. Orange and turquoise always seem to be a delight in any room. Make sure to ground and not over do the bright colors by adding warm materials such as different wood colors and metals.
I think this is a room done by the designer “Celerie Kembell” She has a great knack for bright color combinations!!
Red in many cultures, means prosperity. To us, it stops the eye dead on the element and tells to take a good long look. Red, is a very powerful color. Obviously, we use it for all our stop lights! Important to carefully use this color in limited doses and surround it with a lot of neutrals.
Blue and Orange: I did a project in school with these colors. Used in limited doses, these two colors love each other in a space. A neutral sofa and white side chairs add contrast. The seagrass area rug grounds the space and keeps it from becoming too formal. The wall moldings have a lot of detail which curbs the deep blue paint color and actually makes this room very appealing. Accessories and flowers for table top are the necessary details to ground this space. I love the floor lamp and contemporary art that finish off this space so beautifully!
You can never go wrong with a pink and green combo. It especially looks nice in a child or teens bedroom. There is a lot of balance distributed thru out this room with both colors. White always seems to make the colors around it pop and add contrast.
This is a charming family room done by Celerie Kembell. The Gracie wallpaper is always beautiful in this space. Pop’s of red on the lamp shades are repeated in the art, cocktail table and side chairs. Brown, which is considered a neutral again grounds this space and keeps the design elegant and comfortable.
This fun and contemporary bench seating arrangement is basically made up of neutral color choices. The color comes in on the pillows, which makes it easy to change the color palette completely with out having to start completely over and save big by just replacing the pillow casing covers. This is smart design!
Orange and Turquoise is a popular color combination and actually has a very modern feel to many of the traditional furniture pieces. The white lattice table lamp sits on a beautiful white side table and the modern plexi coffee table adds modern simplicity to this space. Use of many different finishes compliments the bold color palette.
Here is an example of the color combination of pink and green. The designer grounded this room with the natural light wood dresser. Clean white walls and light flooring make this space enjoyable to look at!
