If you take a moment and look very closely at all the details in the petals of a flower, the more you will be amazed at all the intricate design. The color, fragrance and intricate detail will do amazing things to your mood and can make a space welcoming to your guests!
In fact, flowers inspire all types of artist to create, from painters to textile makers, set designers, and many other’s that are too many to mention.
Flowers, today are readily available and affordable with our well-known grocery stores, farmers markets and wholesalers, that offer us a great variety to choose from.
But, there is another way to have beautiful flowers throughout the year that you don't have to buy from stores and that is to plant them in your garden.
You can plan it advance, which flowers will do well and when they will bloom, so you can pick different ones that bloom at different times of the year. This is a very personal way of displaying beautiful floral arrangements in your home and at the same time it will save you money.
So, obviously I love flowers and I want to encourage you to take the time to add them to your home, especially when you have guests over, or even if it is just once a month for yourself.
To make the most of your flower arrangement, there are a couple of things you can do to extend the life of them and they are:
1. Buy the freshest flowers (ask the sales person).
2. Snip of the ends at a 45% angle and put them immediately in cold water.
3. Keep them out of the direct sun or a very warm room.
4. Keep the leaves out of the water, pull them off before placing in the vase.
5. Change the water when it becomes cloudy or about every 2 or 3rd day.
